Catherine Cannon, author of the magical children’s book Felix the Fast Tractor and the New Building, is appearing at Jimmy’s Farm on the 29th September, from 11am until 2pm, where she will read her book to a captivated audience and sign copies for her young fans.
Aimed at three to seven year olds, the delightful tale of rural life features the Story family and a kind, friendly, super clever, shiny blue tractor from Ambers Farm – Felix the Fast Tractor.
Catherine’s book is a must read for any country loving youngster eager to know more about the working life of a farm. The book transports the reader to the sunny countryside, where nestled amongst the rolling hills is the village of Glempsea. Here Felix who plays a vital role in the running of the busy Ambers Farm along with a host of farmyard friends, is surprised with a new home as his friends on the farm build him a new barn. Readers find out about low-loaders, diggers, preparing a site for a new building, the laying of foundations and, of course, the workings of Felix himself!
Catherine says: “I am delighted to be appearing at Jimmy’s Farm. Reading my story to children really is one of the best parts of my job and seeing their reactions to the story is fantastic. Jimmy has done so much over the past few years to promote the farming industry and his passion for the countryside is infectious. I hope that the book ignites the imagination of young children and gets them interested in farming which is an integral part of British history and a fascinating and exciting way of life.”
Jimmy added: “We are really looking forward to welcoming Catherine to the farm. Her book is already really popular with our young customers, so to meet her in person and get a book signed is sure to add an extra bit of excitement to the day!”
With three books in the series, children will see Felix embark on a variety of adventures which centre on everyday farming events - covering many aspects of British agricultural living; from the building of a new barn, to the harvesting of wheat, dealing with the temperamental weather, and helping the Story family find their beloved missing dog.
More factually accurate than other titles of this genre, with helpful ‘want to know more?’ sections the book’s colourful characters, appealing storylines and delightful illustrations make it perfect for this age group.
