Third Felix book published

Four-year-old Peter wanted to know EVERYTHING about life on a farm but his mum Catherine couldn't find any books to interest him.

So she became a writer, set up her own publishing company, and has since sold over 7,000 books, predominantly in Cumbria and South Scotland.

The mum-of-two is now about to publish her third children's book in the adventurous life of Felix the Fast Tractor who lives on a Cumbrian farm, which will be available at Ottakar's nationwide.

PRESS OPPORTUNITY: Tuesday 18th July:

  • 10 - 11am Carlisle Ottakar’s
  • 12 noon Launch of a specially developed Felix ice-cream – Abbott Lodge Jersey Ice-cream Farm, Clifton, near Penrith
  • 2 - 3pm Launch of the 3rd book – 'Felix the Fast Tractor Helps to Find Ben' – Kendal Ottakar's
  • A life-size Felix will be joining Catherine at each venue

Catherine has sold over 3,500 copies of each of her Felix books since their publication in July 2004 and November 2004 respectively, trying and testing each book in local schools, libraries and nursery schools.

  • The books are aimed at children aged between two and six and reluctant readers aged 6–8
  • Each Felix story has unique 'want to know more' sections which give children easily digestible chunks of information on farm life
  • There are interactive activities at the back of each book, with a game, a typical 'day on a farm' and in the new book, a maze game
  • Catherine won an award for her business and its innovative aspects from the Rural Women's Network in November 2004

The books are:

  1. Felix the Fast Tractor and the New Building
  2. Felix the Fast Tractor and the Coal Delivery
  3. Felix the Fast Tractor Helps to Find Ben
