The Felix books transport the reader to Ambers Farm. In Felix’s ‘New Building’ adventures our hero wants to know what his friends are building a new barn for on the farm. Readers find out about low-loaders, diggers and preparing a site. The subsequent two books see Felix embark on a variety of adventures which centre on everyday farming events – from the harvesting of wheat and helping the Story family find their beloved missing dog, to dealing with snowy weather and getting a coal delivery on time.

These sections answer the sort of questions that children might ask, such as 'what happens on a farm in winter?' or 'what does a combine harvester do?'.
