Information for parents

We thought that the best people to tell you about the benefits to be gained from reading Felix the Fast Tractor books with your child are some of our trusty Felix fans.

Felix the Fast Tractor books will be enjoyed by children across the age groups:

“A great children’s book, look forward to the rest of the series.” Jo, mother of three (ages 7,3 and 2)

Even very young children enjoy the experience of sitting with you and looking at bright pictures of everyday things they recognize, such as animals or vehicles:

“Tractor!” Ben, aged 20 months

Each book has a strong storyline and addresses caring themes such as friendship, teamwork, determination and helping out:

“I like Felix because he always helps.” Rebecca, aged 5

“I like Felix because he’s very brave and clever.” Andrew, aged 5

They also contain unique 'want to know more' factual sections, which are very popular with both children and parents:

“A book that will grow with the child, and will certainly never stay on the bookshelf! The ‘want to know more’ information makes this book suitable from 2 years to 6 years and beyond!!” Wendy, mother of three ‘bookworms’.

Catherine Cannon’s aim is to enthuse and inform children about the countryside and farming at a time when some children don't know where milk comes from, why our countryside looks as it does, how a farm works or what it is like to get muddy and climb trees:

“The children get to know all about the different characters on Ambers Farm and, through the clever mix of fact and fiction, they also develop their general knowledge about farms and farming. Boys especially love the ‘Felix facts’ in the unique ‘want to know more’ sections.” Anne Melling, Key Stage 1 teacher at Brunswick School, Penrith

Catherine is supported by the National Farmers’ Union for the educative element of her books and the messages and subject matter of the books and characters are praised by Jimmy Doherty, of the Channel 4 show Jimmy's Farm, for encouraging an interest in farming among young children.
